N+1 Singer was founded in 2006 to create a leading Investment Bank dedicated to serving the Small and mid Cap sector in the UK.
 
Led by Tim Cockroft, who was one of the original founders of Peel Hunt in 1989 ,the business has been a leading force over the last 11 years. We are an experienced group and are dedicated to backing UK PLC.

 
The business was backed at the beginning by one of the oldest dedicated Small Companies bank, Singer and Friedlander, which provided a key part of its DNA.
 
In later years they have been replaced by the institutions Artemis and Lombard Odier -themselves managing some of the largest equity funds in the space.

 
We are proud to be one of the top 3 AIM Advisers and Brokers but are also Advisers to 40 companies on the Main Market. Our ambition is simply to be leaders in our chosen sectors and raise growth capital for our clients to become the business leaders of UK plc.

We have circa 90 employees who work together encouraged by our Profit share which means all employees share in the success of the business.
 
Nearly all employees also have a stake in the business which is 63% employee owned with over 20 partners holding 0.5% of the equity or more.
 
Our outside shareholders include Alantra (28%)who have one of the leading Global Advisory business in the mid-market -they offer a unique insight for our clients in Global Expansion.

Biography

N+1 Singer founder, Tim Cockroft began his 27 year career in financial markets on the Stock Exchange floor in 1986. Tim was one of the founding members of Peel Hunt in 1989, and went on to become CEO in 2004. In 2006, he left Peel Hunt and created Singer Capital Markets which then merged with N+1 Brewin.Tim’s driving ambition is for N+1 Singer to be at the forefront of UK plc, providing equity for the growth of the small and mid cap sector.

Tim went to Wellington College and is married with three daughters. A sports enthusiast in general, he’s particularly keen on cricket, golf, cycling and especially rackets, and is Chairman of The Queens Club.

Mark Gibbon

Biography

Mark studied at Oxford University and has been an Extel-ranked construction analyst before becoming a UK general salesman in 1995. He has also been a major part of our Consumer franchise. Mark became head of research in 2012 managing a sizeable team across 11 sectors.

Married with two young children, his other interests are gardening, classic cars and playing the blues.

Fred Vinton

Biography

Fred graduated from Harvard University and started his career at JP Morgan in the US, South America and London where he became the Senior Vice President responsible for the banks’ business in the UK, Ireland and Scandinavia. Later on, he became Chief Operating Officer at Rothschild Group, Chief Executive of the Bemberg family group, Quilvest and Chairman of Electra Partners. Fred is Chairman of The American Museum in Britain and is the director at N+1 Dinamia, GP Investments and several quoted investment vehicles in Latin America and Europe.

Iñigo de Cáceres

Biography

Iñigo is the Chief Operating Officer of the N+1 Group, a position he’s held since he joined the company in 2006. Iñigo started his career at Arthur Andersen in the Strategy team of the Business Consulting division. Before joining the N+1 group, he worked at Diageo, in its Madrid office as their Decision Support Manager and member of the Southern Europe Strategy team.
Iñigo de Cáceres has a degree in Business Administration from Bilbao’s Comercial de Deusto (Spain), with an Erasmus Programme from Université catholique de Louvain (Belgium), and a degree in Geography and History from Uned (Spain).

Henry Chaplin

Biography

Henry led and funded the buy-out of NCM Fund Services Limited from Noble Group in 2009 and is now its chairman. He joined Noble in 1990 and was one of a team of four that bought the bank from the Noble family in 2000. In 2003, he moved from corporate finance to grow the fund management business, building assets under management from £15m to over £230m. Previously Henry was an officer in the Royal Green Jackets for 5 years and then worked in management consultancy. Henry is on the board of a number of other entities including a £200m private equity fund of funds managed by EIF and N+1 Singer, (he was chairman of Singer Capital Markets before its merger with N+1 Brewin in 2012). In 2010, Henry founded RM Capital Markets Limited, a fixed income broking business, with its CEO. In the charitable sector, Henry is on the trustee board of Save the Rhino International and has completed two Himalayan expeditions with Walking With The Wounded.
